Surf club thanks Wellington Shire for tech upgrade support
Seaspray Surf Life Saving Club has received a welcome boost through Wellington Shire Council’s Community Assistance Grant program.
Surf Club President Chris Fleming said the club had received $3,000 from Wellington Shire to undertake a technology upgrade to strengthen the club’s operations and volunteer capability.
“The upgrade has enhanced our club’s ability to coordinate patrols, manage training programs and streamline essential reporting, helping volunteers focus more of their time on keeping Ninety Mile Beach safe,” Mr Fleming said.
“Improved digital capability has also supported the delivery of our Nippers program, relieving our volunteers of time-consuming paperwork and providing an additional engaging way to educate our club’s youngest members.”
Mr Fleming said the grant would also make a meaningful difference to the way volunteers carried out their roles.
“Our volunteers already give so much of their time to protect our community. This digital upgrade will make their jobs easier and more efficient, while improving communication, training and emergency response,” Mr Fleming said.
“With more than 500 members and an increasing demand for patrols and preventative actions each season, investing in better technology is an investment in community safety,” he said.
Mr Fleming thanked Wellington Shire Council for its ongoing support for the surf club.
“Grants, including those available through the Community Assistance Grant program, play an important role in strengthening local organisations, building volunteer capacity and supporting vibrant, connected communities,” he said.
